Turkmenistan approves new rules for renewable energy cadastre

The Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan has sanctioned the “Procedure for Maintaining the State Cadastre of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Utilizing its Data,” which will create a national database to assess the country’s renewable energy potential.

The document was developed with the assistance of the European Union’s Sustainable Energy Linkages in Central Asia (SECCA) project. The cadastre will be available both electronically on the ministry’s website and in print, with regular updates accessible to the public, barring any legally restricted data.

In early 2025, the Ministry of Energy also approved two additional regulatory documents based on SECCA recommendations, which address the guaranteed connection of renewable energy installations to the grid as well as safety regulations for power facilities.
