The Turkmenbashi Oil Processing Complex (TOPC) has officially launched production of Jet A-1 aviation fuel at its facility, expanding its product line of refined light petroleum products.
Jet A-1 serves as the European equivalent of TS-1 aviation kerosene, which is also produced at the refinery. Engineered for use in gas turbine engines, Jet A-1 powers modern commercial aircraft fleets worldwide, including Boeing and Airbus airliners.
The new fuel grade complies fully with international aviation standards and has received official certification from the “Turkmenstandartlary” Main State Service.
Production of Jet A-1 utilizes advanced deep purification technology at a specialized processing unit with an annual capacity of 525,000 tonnes. The unit was designed and supplied by U.S.-based Merichem Chemicals Refinery Services LLC, with assembly and installation completed by local Turkmen specialists.
The expansion of light oil product offerings aligns with national strategic directives to modernize Turkmenistan’s petrochemical sector. Modernization initiatives have established TOPC as a major regional exporter of gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, and polypropylene.
The initial commercial batch of Jet A-1 fuel will be made available for international trade via the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan.
The deployment of advanced fuel purification technologies, modernization of refinery processing capacity, and the expansion of export-grade aviation and transportation fuels across Turkmenistan and the broader Caspian region will be key focal points at the upcoming Downstream Central Asia & Caspian Summit.

In a major development for Central Asia's petrochemical landscape, Kazakh project operator Silleno has signed a long-term agreement with Air Liquide Karabatan Tech Gases (ALKTG) for the continuous supply of industrial gases to its upcoming polyethylene production plant in the Atyrau region.
