Downstream Central Asia

The Downstream Central Asia & Caspian Summit is the region’s premier annual gathering for the refining and petrochemical industries, connecting decision-makers, investors, technology providers and government stakeholders to discuss the projects, investments and innovations driving the future of downstream development across Central Asia and the Caspian region.

Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan are moving forward with a joint venture to build the Kambarata HPP-1, a massive hydropower plant on the Naryn River. With a capacity of 1,880 MW, the facility is a cornerstone of regional energy strategy. It is capable of powering roughly 1.5 million homes—an output comparable to two large nuclear reactors.

For the first time, the Downstream Central Asia and Caspian Summit will be co-located with the inaugural Go Net Zero Energy Summit on 8 September at the same venue, bringing together downstream stakeholders from across the Caspian and Central Asia regions under one roof.

The chemicals and refining sectors are facing increasing pressure to adapt, driven by changes in global demand, evolving regulations, and a shift toward more complex and integrated complexes, allowing a complete conversion of the raw feedstocks into products with high added value.

In just two weeks, the historic city of Samarqand will host the region’s largest gathering of downstream and petrochemical leaders — the 12th Downstream Central Asia & Caspian Summit. The event, organised by Globuc (UK) with the official support of Uzbekneftegaz JSC, will take place on 9–11 September 2025 at the Hilton Regency Samarqand.
