Pavel Zamyslicky

Dr. Pavel Zámyslický graduated with a master’s degree in economics and energy management and subsequently completed his doctoral studies (in business management and economics) at the Czech Technical University in Prague. In 2005, he joined the Ministry of the Environment, where he became Director of the Energy and Climate Protection Department in 2007.
Since 2022, he has been also serving as a Deputy Director General of the newly established Climate Protection Section. In his professional career, he has been working on various policy instruments, strategies and funding schemes in the field of energy and climate at EU or national level. Legislative dossiers on his department’s agenda include the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and the Effort Sharing and LULUCF Regulations.
He has served as the Czech Republic’s lead negotiator for the UNFCCC for more than fifteen years. He successfully led climate teams during the Czech EU presidencies in 2009 and 2022.
