Matthias Franke

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Franke took over management of the Sulzbach-Rosenberg branch of Fraunhofer UMSICHT on March 1, 2021.
He has a degree in engineering in land culture and environmental protection and a doctorate in waste management. For over ten years, he headed the Circular Economy Department at the Fraunhofer Institute branch in Sulzbach-Rosenberg.
His main areas of work include waste management and resource strategies, energy and material recycling, and chemical recycling of composite materials. He is also a professor at the University of Birmingham and a lecturer at the Technical University of Munich.
