He is currently acting as a Senior Investment Manager at Wintershall Dea Technology Ventures GmbH, the corporate venture capital arm of the Wintershall Dea, the leading independent European gas and oil exploration and production company.

Past experience includes Global Category Management of Directional Drilling and Wireline Services at Wintershall Dea. Previously with Baker Hughes, the global leader in oilfield services, holding various roles in the Drilling and Evaluation division including MWD Engineer, Technical Advisor, Drilling Engineer and Product Manager of Downhole Drilling Motors. Azar is OASIS-Certified Drilling Applications Engineer in Performance Drilling and earned BSc and MSc degrees in Computer Science (Automated Control Systems) from Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University. He is an author and co-author of 15 technical papers.
