Dr. Abdulrahman Alassi serves as the Power Systems Manager at Iberdrola Innovation Middle East, where he leads the development of cutting-edge digital solutions in power system planning, stability, converter control, automation, and battery storage optimization. Based in Doha, he has spearheaded a wide range of high-impact international projects across the MENA region, Europe, North America, and Australia. His work includes the creation of network planning tools for automated grid-compliance assessments and investment planning, as well as the design of optimization models to enhance the performance of renewable energy and storage systems.
Dr. Alassi has made significant contributions to the field of power converters, particularly in the design and testing of grid-forming control systems for supporting and restoring electrical networks. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organization, with over 30 published scientific papers and multiple prestigious awards recognizing his contributions to the energy sector.
He holds a Ph.D. in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, along with M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees from Qatar University. A frequent speaker at leading international events, including the World Utilities Congress, innovation forums, and technical conferences, Dr. Alassi is known for bridging advanced research with real-world energy challenges to support the global transition toward smarter, more resilient power systems.
