The company noted that this strategic step will help boost domestic supply and could have a positive impact on regional markets. The launch of the new production capacity will also reduce reliance on imports of certain PP grades.

In addition, Guangxi plans to bring a new styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR) unit up to its full design capacity of 120,000 tonnes per year in October. The unit was commissioned in July 2025. According to the producer, once operational, total SSBR capacity in China will reach 595,000 tonnes per year, accounting for 21.5% of global production.

Earlier, ExxonMobil (USA) officially launched its petrochemical complex in Huizhou, Guangdong Province (southern China). The first phase of the project includes a unit with an annual capacity of 1.6 million tonnes of ethylene.
