Mini (elevator) pitch:
Veridis enables high-quality, profitable plastic recycling at scale with the first industry-scale & 99% accurate analysis technology for complex mixed plastic (waste) streams called MADSCAN®.
Detailed version:
Veridis develops the MADSCAN® technology. MADSCAN® is the first scalable, thermal analysis technology for mixed plastic (waste) streams that measures
1. any polymer type,
2. with up to 99% accuracy,
3. at a batch-representative level.
MADSCAN® measures a batch-representative sample of material via a sensor array-based system. By heating this sample, we look at the unique thermal behavior of each polymer and from that can retrieve with 99% accuracy which polymers are in a recycling batch and how large each fraction is. Via automated analysis these results are available in a digital customer portal.
With this insight, plastic sorters, recyclers and converters can conduct reliable input-control before processing materials, optimise their recycling processes and give quality & purity guarantees to their customers, for the production of new high-quality plastic recycled products.
MADSCAN® compared to conventional methods.
The most common conventional methods are optical scanners that use cameras or infrared light (NIR) to analyse materials or lab-scale thermal analysis systems (such as DSC).
Optical analysis tools cannot identify different subtypes of polymers (e.g. HDPE, LLDPE, LDPE, MDPE, + different subgrades), struggle with multi-layered materials (packaging & foils) and cannot analyse black plastics (electronics, WEEE). Thermal analysis systems are more accurate but can only measure a few milligrams per analysis, which is not representative for industrial batches.
