All plastics should be circular. BlueAlp’s ambition is to make sure this will happen as soon as possible by offering the most economically attractive and most sustainable technology in the market, at global scale.
BlueAlp was founded in 2015 and is currently owned by minority shareholders Shell, Mourik, Renasci (affiliate Borealis), Den Hartog, and Rumali. The company launched its first pilot plant with a capacity of 3,000 tonnes p.a. in 2014 in Switzerland, followed by the launch of the first commercial plant of 21,000 tonnes p.a. input capacity in Ostend, Belgium in 2020.
Next to providing customers access to the best-in-class technology via a technology license, BlueAlp has production facilities to produce the core pyrolysis unit. With 10+ years’ experience in the advanced recycling market and ~100 employees based in the high-tech city of Eindhoven, BlueAlp is perfectly positioned to serve petrochemical companies, refineries, waste managers and other customers on their journey to valorize waste and make plastics truly circular.
