In order to strengthen bilateral relations between representatives of the private sector, a number of events and dialogues took place, during which agreements and contracts on cooperation were signed between representatives of Iran and Tajikistan. To implement the signed cooperation documents, it is planned to attract more than 1.3 bn somoni (almost $19 mn) into the country’s economy.

The press service of the chairman of the city of Dushanbe reported

The collaboration is set to extend into the processing and production of various sectors, including chemicals, textiles, construction products, and medicines. The partnership aims to leverage Tajikistan's internal capabilities in conjunction with Iranian partners.

Rustam Emomali's two-day official visit to Tehran involved meetings with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, Chairman of the Assembly of the Islamic Council of Iran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and other high-ranking Iranian officials. The negotiations resulted in the signing of 15 new documents covering inter-parliamentary cooperation, interregional interaction in trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, as well as collaboration in the field of production.

According to official statistics, the bilateral trade volume between Tajikistan and Iran exceeded $216 mn in the first 11 months of 2023, marking a 4% increase compared to the same period in 2022.

In November 2023, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi visited Dushanbe, where he held discussions with Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon. The meeting resulted in the signing of 19 new documents, including a plan outlining the cooperation program until 2030.
