Solid results obtained on Black Sea Sakarya well tests

TPAO has completed a second flow test of the Turkali-1 appraisal well on the deepwater Sakarya gas field in the western (Turkish) sector of the Black Sea. - Offshore

The second reservoir section flowed 21.9 MMcf/d, with strong well deliverability and reservoir connectivity. All planned tests were successful, said Melih Han Bilgin, TPAO’s chairman and ceo, with the results providing important information regarding the field’s potential.

In this campaign conducted flow tests on two appraisal wells and five different reservoirs, and is assessing data and samples from the tests to optimize field development work and to refine the front-end engineering and design (FEED).

It expects first gas is expected to reach Turkey’s Filyos gas processing terminal in 2023.

Türkali-1 was drilled by TPAO’s Fatih drillship to a TD of 3,920 m (12,861 ft) in 2,143 m (7,031 ft) water depth, with another drillship, Kanuni, conducting the flow tests.

To date the company has proven 540 bcm of gas in the ultra-deep offshore area of the western Black Sea.

Sakarya will be developed via a subsea gas production system exporting through pipelines to Filyos.
