One of them is for Turkish Petroleum’s Sakarya gas field development, 175 km (109 mi) offshore the coast of Eregli in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea.

Saipem will transport and install pipelines in water depths of up to 2,200 m (7,218 ft), with most of the operations performed by the pipelay vessel Castorone. Offshore operations are due to start next spring.

It was recently announced that energy services giants Subsea 7 and Schlumberger would team up to provide subsurface equipment to Sakarya.

It’s thought the field holds 540 billion cubic metres of gas, with first production expected in 2023.
