Robotics projects in development in the energy industry in 2020/2021

Robotics technology is not entirely new for the energy sector- the history of robotics in the oil and gas stretches back to the late 1950s, when the Hughes Aircraft Company released the Manipulator Operated Robot (MOBOT).

Today there are plenty of different applications of robotic technologies in the oil and gas industries. However, operational costs and safety concerns are forcing many to look towards new frontiers and to change the attitude towards robotics from “nice-to-have” to “necessary”.

We have prepared the overview of the key robotics projects in energy that are developed by Equinor, Total and Petronas. In the article, you will find the overview of such projects as Argos, OGRIP, Hydromea and ANYmal.
