New petrochemical projects in Kazakhstan valued at $12 billion

The total cost of oil and gas chemical projects, which are currently being developed in Kazakhstan, is valued $ 12 billion, as mentioned by Nurlan Nogayev, (Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan) in his speech at the Tatarstan Oil and Gas Chemical Forum-Rupec

We will provide all the necessary means of state support for the successful implementation of projects in this industry. Currently, the government is developing a special investment agreement in the field of petrochemicals, which will contain special preferences aimed at stimulating investment in the development of this industry.

Today, Kazakhstan’s plants operate to facilitate the production of aromatic hydrocarbons, lubricating oils, polypropylene and octane additives for gasoline. The products manufactured by these enterprises are met with high demand on the domestic market, and are exported to neighbouring countries such as China, Russia, Uzbekistan, etc. A polypropylene plant with a capacity of 500 thousand tons / year, worth $ 2.6 billion is currently under construction. In addition, multiple projects for the production of polyethylene terephthalate (430 thousand tons / year worth $ 1 billion), methanol (130 thousand tons / year, worth $ 200 million), olefins (800 thousand tons / year worth $ 1.8 billion), polyethylene (1.250 million tons / year worth $ 7.6 billion), butadiene (186 thousand tons / year worth $ 820 million), base oils (280 thousand tons / year worth $ 860 million) are currently being developed.
