Lukoil is considering the possibility of launching methanol production in Priolo, Southeast Sicily, Rupec reports.
The plant is expected to have a capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per year. At the same plant, the company may start production of 300,000 tonnes of cumene per year. The company has not specified the time frame for implementing the projects nor the amount of investment.
In addition to this, Lukoil is continuing its work on polypropylene production in Burgas — as of December, the project has been at the stage of launching to a capacity of 300 thousand tonnes per year.
We follow this approach: everyone should do their work, do what they are capable of and do it well. A large company like Lukoil can execute large-tonnage tasks, after all. We are now looking at large-tonnage projects within the group. Nothing else matches the scale of our operations. And it's difficult for us to determine that we, for example, will go forward with the processing of polypropylene.Sergei Kolyada, Senior Manager of Oil and Gas Development, Lukoil
