KazMunayGas and Univation signed a license agreement for the PE project

"KazMunayGas and the American company, Univation Technologies, have signed a licensing agreement for a second polymerisation unit with an output of 625,000 tons of polyethylene per year, the company said." - Rupec

It is noteable that the agreement between KMG and Univation procures the release of a product development process document (PDP) for a polyethylene (PE) production unit using the Unipol PE Process and the provision of a corresponding license allowing for the production of 625,000 tons per year of PE.

Additionally, Univation will supply polymerisation catalyst systems, including catalysts for high-density blow molded PE (HDPE), linear low-density PE (LLDPE) and cast high-density PE (HDPE) grades.

Previously, KazMunayGas, signed a licensing agreement with Chevron Phillips Chemical for their first polymerisation unit, also with an output capacity of 625,000 tons of polyethylene per year.

At the end of November, KazMunayGas announced that it had begun development on a project to construct a new plant for the production of polyethylene. The project is being developed by Silleno, a joint venture between KazMunayGas, the Kazakh National Wealth Fund (Samruk-Kazyna), and the Russian Company, Sibur.
