The document was signed during the Astana 2023 International Forum.

The project will cost 80 million euros, and the design capacity of the unit will be 160,000 tonnes of hydrogen a year, according to the press release.

Air Liquide Munay Tech Gases LLP (ALMTG), created in 2016, is a joint venture between Air Liquide S.A. with 75% and KMG with 25%. ALMTG has been supplying hydrogen to the Pavlodar oil refinery since 2018 and nitrogen since 2020. ALMTG started supplying hydrogen and nitrogen to the Atyrau refinery on March 1, 2021. ALMTG also built a nitrogen generation unit at the Karabatan petrochemical complex near Atyrau.

The Pavlodar refinery, built in 1978, is today owned by Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant LLP.
