Kuwait Oil Company Awards Halliburton Agreement to Advance Technology Development Ahmadi Innovation Valley

Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has awarded Halliburton (NYSE: HAL) a multi-year agreement to support the development and operation of the Ahmadi Innovation Valley (AIV), a flagship research and development initiative designed to accelerate the transformation of Kuwait’s upstream energy sector.

The R&D center is structured to deliver targeted technological solutions across brownfield optimization, greenfield developments, and complex unconventional reservoirs. By embedding applied research directly into operational workflows, the AIV platform will drive technology from initial concept through prototyping, field piloting, and commercial deployment.

Applied R&D, Artificial Intelligence, and In-Country Capability

The collaboration marks a strategic transition for KOC from traditional oilfield service procurement to the joint co-creation of proprietary energy technologies:

  • Integrated Digital Capabilities: Advanced data analytics, scientific modeling, and artificial intelligence (AI) will be integrated across the full field lifecycle to optimize real-time operational decision-making and maximize asset performance.

  • Kuwait-Specific Upstream Engineering: Halliburton will deploy tailored technologies specifically engineered to resolve Kuwait’s high-complexity geological and operational challenges.

  • National Talent and Capability Development: The AIV initiative serves as a permanent national asset, building localized technical expertise and expanding in-country research capabilities to support long-term sector growth.

Executive Leadership Perspective

“This award reflects the depth of the long-term collaboration with KOC and the shared focus on advancing technology development in Kuwait’s energy sector. We collaborate and engineer solutions to maximize asset value for our customers. The upstream R&D center demonstrates this approach in action. We combine global expertise, digital capabilities, and in-country presence to address Kuwait’s unique upstream challenges.”

Jeff Miller, Chairman, President, and CEO, Halliburton
