KazMunayGas and Uzbekneftegaz partner to build 50,000-tpy linear alkylbenzene plant

This agreement was signed during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s official visit to Uzbekistan, formalizing both companies’ commitment to exploring and designing the project.

The agreement facilitates the initiation of the design phase along with the necessary technical and economic evaluations. The proposed complex is set to achieve a production capacity of up to 50,000 tons per year of LAB. A final investment decision will be made once the design work is finalized.

If successfully implemented, this project is anticipated to satisfy domestic LAB needs in both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, decrease dependence on imported raw materials, and bolster the growth of the regional chemical and household goods sectors. This partnership follows a previous agreement between the two companies regarding the Zharkyn geological exploration initiative.
