As part of the cooperation agreement signed in March between the two companies, the parties discussed plans to implement geological exploration projects in the border regions of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The companies also plan to establish a shared information space for exchanging geological and technical data and are considering joint participation in international oil and gas projects.

Additionally, the parties discussed the next steps regarding the memorandum on cooperation in digital technologies and industrial safety, signed on March 5, 2025, which includes KMG, UNG, Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, and Russia’s Tatneft.

On May 12, KMG International, a branch of KMG, resumed operations at its Romanian refinery, Petromidia. In response to the increasing demand for petrochemical products in the European market, KMG has initiated the establishment of a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) production plant. The company aims to integrate the LDPE facility with the petrochemical complex at the Petromidia refinery, reinforcing its role as Romania’s sole national polymer producer.
