CLEAN HYDROGEN PROJECTS IN KAZAKHSTAN
GREEN HYDROGEN PRODUCTION PLANT – SVEVIND 2030-2032
It is assumed that the implementation of the project will allow exporting of electricity to the EU countries. It is planned that the start of production will take place in 2030, and the power plant will reach total capacity by 2032. The capacity is 2 million tons of green hydrogen per year, equivalent to about one-fifth of the EU’s stated goal of importing green hydrogen by 2030.
The project involves constructing and operating a desalination plant with a capacity of 255 thousand cubic metres per day, a 40 GW renewable energy station (wind, solar), and a 20 GW water electrolysis product mainly for export or domestic consumption.
Production capacity
Svevind Group plans to build an enterprise that will generate 40 GW of electricity to produce 2 million tons of hydrogen per year.
Estimated investments
50 billion USD
GREEN HYDROGEN PRODUCTION PLANT – FORTESCUE FUTURE INDUSTRIES
The Government of Kazakhstan and Fortescue Future Industries have signed a Framework agreement on the implementation of projects for the production of “green” hydrogen in several regions of the republic, including Atyrau and Mangystau regions
The document was signed during the Summit of World Leaders of the Global Climate Change Conference (COP 27) in Egypt.
Future projects are designed to produce a significant amount of “green” hydrogen, which is also planned to be supplied to the European market.
GREEN HYDROGEN PRODUCTION PILOT PROJECT – GREEN SPARK
The first pilot project for the production of green hydrogen in Kazakhstan, implemented by “GreenSpark” LLP, has been put into operation.
This is a one-of-a-kind first implementation in the history of Kazakhstan’s energy sector.
