Genesis Awarded Pre-feasibility Study for Proposed Kazakhstan Refinery

Genesis Oil & Gas Consultants Limited (Genesis) has officially signed a contract with Samruk-Kazyna Ondeu LLP to deliver a pre-feasibility study for a proposed 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) oil refinery in Kazakhstan.

The comprehensive study will evaluate both the technical and economic viability of the mega-refinery project, providing crucial data to guide early-stage decision-making and strategic planning.

Expanding Regional Energy Infrastructure

The agreement was formalised during a broader signing ceremony attended by executive leadership from both organisations alongside key industry stakeholders. The event highlighted Genesis’ growing role in supporting large-scale infrastructure investments across Central Asia and formed part of a wider series of inter-company agreements spanning the energy, transportation, and infrastructure sectors.

“This strategically significant win reflects the dedication and collaboration of our teams. I would like to extend a special thanks to colleagues across Genesis and TKJV LLP. Their combined efforts have positioned us at the forefront of this exciting development, which is our first project with the client. We are proud to continue building on our strong history of delivering challenging early-phase projects in Kazakhstan, contributing to the country’s energy sector and supporting its future ambitions.”

William Pilkington, Managing Director of Genesis

Scope of the Assessment

Under the terms of the agreement, Genesis will execute a structured, multi-disciplinary feasibility evaluation. The project scope includes:

  • Detailed market demand, capital cost, and project schedule analysis.

  • Comprehensive technical assessments covering site selection and site logistics.

  • Utility and transport infrastructure evaluation.

  • Identification of potential integration opportunities with existing downstream facilities.
