Enefit Commissions Its Largest Polish Solar Farm

Enefit, the electricity subsidiary of Estonia’s Eesti Energia, has officially opened the Strzałkowo solar park in central Poland. The newly launched facility marks a major milestone for the company, standing as its largest single renewable energy project in the Polish market to date.

The Strzałkowo facility boasts an impressive installed capacity of 45 megawatts (MW). Operational estimates suggest the site will generate approximately 45 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean electricity annually.

To put that into perspective, this output is substantial enough to meet the yearly energy needs of roughly 22,000 average Polish households. Furthermore, the shift to this renewable source is expected to prevent the release of around 28,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year.

Enefit has identified Poland as one of its four core “home markets,” establishing a presence there a decade ago in 2016. Today, the company provides energy solutions to more than 4,500 business clients across the country.

With the Strzałkowo park now fully online, Enefit’s total renewable generation capacity within Poland has surged to 78 megawatts.

According to Gerrit Mäesalu, Chairman of the Board at Enefit, the company’s steady growth in the region underscores its long-term strategy. He noted that the record-breaking Strzałkowo project significantly bolsters their generation portfolio, allowing Enefit to supply an increasing volume of clean energy to its growing customer base.

To ensure the long-term economic viability of the project, the Strzałkowo solar park is backed by a 15-year Contract for Difference (CfD). This financial mechanism guarantees a stable revenue stream for 75% of the plant’s projected energy output, insulating the investment against market volatility.

The new central Poland site joins Enefit’s broader, integrated network of renewable assets across Poland and the Baltic States, which includes a diverse mix of wind farms, solar arrays, and modern energy storage systems.

Utility-Scale Solar and Energy Transition Financial Models at Go Net Zero

The development of utility-scale photovoltaic infrastructure, long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs), Contracts for Difference (CfD) off-take mechanisms, and cross-border renewable investment strategies in Central and Eastern Europe will be key topics of discussion at the upcoming Go Net Zero Energy – Central and Eastern Europe Summit
