Coveris has expanded its MonoFlexLite E portfolio—made with a single-layer polyethylene material—to include a recyclable solution with up to 45% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, specifically engineered for wet wipe and cosmetics applications.
As part of the broader MonoFlex packaging line, this expansion builds on the successful commercial adoption of MonoFlexLite E for free-standing pet food bags, providing a high-performance alternative tailored to meet demanding cosmetics and personal care standards.
The development process targeted two primary structural challenges inherent to heavy PCR integration in personal care packaging:

Mechanical Integrity: R&D experts formulated a specialized base structure that reliably maintains critical mechanical strengths and line packaging speeds on high-speed filling equipment despite the high volume of recycled content.
By analyzing the entire packaging lifecycle from raw waste collection to processing, Coveris combined material science with practical recycling analytics to deliver a fully functional, high-performance solution.
The single-layer polyethylene structure is explicitly designed to meet Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) targets without sacrificing structural performance. The film’s 45% PCR content directly exceeds mandated PPWR incorporation rates.
To support high-quality circular loops after consumer disposal, the packaging incorporates a surface printing solution. This system connects with the company’s dedicated ReCover processing capabilities, using specialized production lines to actively de-ink the collected material.
To scale the technology commercially, Coveris is transferring this material framework to additional non-contact-sensitive fields and wider wet wipe segments. The company is actively collaborating with international drugstore chains and major retailers to deploy a closed-loop system in partnership with waste management firm Interzero, taking back post-consumer waste to process, de-ink, and reintroduce into active production.
