Driving the Energy Transition in CEE: Insights from Rystad Energy

Iben Furstmann Dahl
Advisory Partner
At the 5th Go Net Zero Energy Summit, held in Budapest from 1–3 April 2025, Iben Furstmann Dahl from Rystad Energy shared valuable insights on how to approach the energy transition with flexibility, simplicity, and a portfolio mindset.

Iben emphasized the importance of viewing renewable and energy assets holistically to manage volatility and optimize deployment across regions and technologies, particularly in light of recent challenges such as lower capture prices and varied returns.

The main point I want to highlight is the need for a more holistic portfolio mindset when thinking of renewable assets and energy… especially as we’ve seen varied returns and lower capture prices in regions like Northwest Europe.

She also stressed the significance of simplifying the energy transition process:

Focus on electrification and renewable energy where it makes sense, this can be a very cost-effective way to both decarbonize and increase energy security.
