PetroKazakhstan Oil Products - Operational Efficiency Improvement Strategy

At the “Downstream Central Asia and Caspian” summit in 2024 in Astana, Rinat Salikov, Head of Technical Development at KazMunayGas, outlined a strategy to enhance operational efficiency at the Shymkent Refinery—one of Kazakhstan’s largest refineries. Following modernization, the facility aims to double its processing capacity from 6 to 12 million tons per year.

The project involves comprehensive benchmarking studies and workplace analysis to identify gaps and formulate recommendations. HSB Solomon Associates consultants are guiding the recommendation process and overseeing change implementation. Ivan Tomashevsky, Director of Business Development and Consulting for CIS and Turkey at HSB Solomon Associates, presented the project’s phases and concrete outcomes.
